    Download speed

    Upload speed

    Server latency

Kaspersky VPN Free has a data transfer limit of 200 MB per day without logging into an account, or 300 MB per day with a logged-in account. Competing VPNs usually offer a more convenient monthly data transfer limit.

The VPN performed very well in the speed test, doing better than some of its paid competitors. The connection speed to the nearest server would be enough to play 4K video. Unfortunately, we couldn’t test the connection to foreign servers, as the VPN only offers a connection to the nearest server in the free version.

  12. What is the country of origin of Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection Free?

    • Country of origin: 🇷🇺 Russia

Kaspersky is a Russian cyber security company with local presence in many countries. It is not one of the so-called 14 Eyes countries, which are known for collecting and sharing information about internet activities by secret services. However, Russia is also a country that censors the Internet.

Kaspersky VPN uses the servers of Hotspot Shield, which is based in the United States. This country is known for its surveillance practices, but your search data should never be stored.

  13. Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection Free and Privacy: Logging Policy, Security Issues…

    • No-Logs Policy:
      Partially
The No-Logs Policy is followed by 86% of reviewed VPNs.
    • Multi-Hop:
      No
Multi-Hop connection is offered by 31 % of the VPNs reviewed.

Kaspersky VPN states that it does not store logs of user activity. However, storing data is more complicated because the VPN is provided by VPN company Hotspot Shield. Kaspersky stores the data associated with a user account in Switzerland. In the app, the provision of data for marketing and service improvement can be turned off.

In Hotspot Shield’s terms and conditions, you’ll find that they don’t collect data about the sites you visit that would be associated with your account. However, they do collect anonymized data about the domains users visit, the time and amount of data transferred, device identification data, analytics and marketing data. In addition, IP addresses are stored for approximate location and about the Internet Service Provider.

These privacy terms should not pose a risk, but competing VPNs offer better privacy protection. For activities requiring maximum privacy protection, we recommend choosing a different VPN. However, for normal use, Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection Free does not pose a risk.

  14. Kaspersky VPN Secure Connection Free Support: Chat, e-mail…
