Atlas VPN Free Connection Speed: Upload, Download & Latency
Download speed
Upload speed
Server latency
AtlasVPN free is one of the few free VPNs with no data transfer limit. Although the free version is supposed to be slower at the expense of the paid version, we measured very good connection speeds.
In our test, we opted for a closer Dutch server. Surprisingly, the speed was up to several times faster than needed for smooth playback of 4K content. However, the speed was not consistent during testing as individual measurements varied significantly.
When connected to the US server, the speed was significantly slower, but sufficient for playing FullHD content.

Because of the small selection of countries, AtlasVPN’s Free VPN isn’t very good for getting around internet restrictions, as you have very limited options for unblocking content.

Atlas VPN Free‘s CPU usage and App Performance

What is the country of origin of Atlas VPN Free?
- Country of origin: 🇺🇸 USA
Atlas VPN is owned by Peakstar Technologies Inc. The company is headquartered in the United States, which falls under the so-called Five-Eyes countries. These are countries that are known for surveillance of not only their own citizens by secret services and passing information across the group.
However, as long as the service doesn’t store logs of activity while connected, which Atlas VPN doesn’t, it’s safe to use the provider’s network from that country as well.
AtlasVPN also has a special section on its site with transparent data on the number of government or national security requests to release information about its users. At the time of testing, AtlasVPN states that no user information has ever been requested from them, nor has any data been stolen.
Atlas VPN Free and Privacy: Logging Policy, Security Issues…
- No-Logs Policy: YesThe No-Logs Policy is followed by 86% of reviewed VPNs.
- Multi-Hop: NoMulti-Hop connection is offered by 31 % of the VPNs reviewed.
Atlas VPN does not store any logs of the sites visited or user activity when connecting through the VPN. Therefore, no sensitive data is stored. Data stored includes information about app usage and basic data about device type, model, operating system, brand name, device ID, language, time zone, and connection city. It also includes analytics data about the installation method and source and advertising IDs for the purpose of measuring the success of campaigns.
The non-sensitive data that AtlasVPN stores is more than most VPN providers. This can be a hindrance for people who want maximum privacy.
Atlas VPN Free Support: Chat, e-mail…
Support is offered on the Atlas VPN website with a database of tutorials and solutions to common problems. You will also find frequently asked questions about Atlas VPN. The database isn’t extensive, this form of support is supplemented by 24/7 live support via email.
