HideMe VPN offers apps for all common mobile and desktop operating systems, Fire TV and routers. It supports Firefox, Chrome and other browsers that allow you to download extensions through the Chrome Web Store.

HideMe Free VPN can only be used on one device at a time – or you use the VPN on each device separately, as the free version requires no account.

The VPN router can be used to protect your entire home network. You can buy a router with Hide.me VPN already running, or set it up yourself on your router. You just need to make sure that the router supports the HideMe app.

The Hide.me desktop app offers the ability to automatically launch the app at system startup and connect to the VPN after startup. Automatic connections to selected Wi-Fi networks based on security or network name are available in both the mobile and desktop apps. There is also an option to select the connection to the best server.

The apps are clear and intuitive to use. The biggest criticism is directed towards the strange behavior where the app hides even from the taskbar when minimized. You then have to reopen it from the start, shortcut, or right control panel icon, and even then by right-clicking and selecting “Show App”.

The split tunneling feature, which allows you to select apps that use the tunnel, is available in both mobile and desktop versions. Unfortunately, it is not possible to select websites that will be accessed without a VPN connection.

The HideMe Free app offers 17 different languages, including English.

Hide.me Free is a free VPN, and like most free competitors, it has a data transfer limit. In this case, it’s 10GB per month. Since no account is required to use Hide.me Free, you get 10 GB per month on each device individually, not all together.

HideMe Free’s transfer speed is very good not only when connecting to the nearest server, but also to a server in the US. With connection speeds, HideMe Free is among the best among all the VPNs we’ve tested, including NordVPN or Surfshark.

You can easily stream 4K content over a VPN. However, HideMe Free does not support unblocking streaming services.
