VPN Proxy One Pro Review 2023: 5 Cons and 2 Pros
VPN Proxy One Pro Lacks Basic Security Features
- With one subscription, the VPN can only be used on 1 device
- Only 17 locations are available
- It is missing the important security feature of a kill switch
- There are very few advanced features
- The app collects too much information about users
- It offers good download and upload speeds
- Customer support is available 24/7
VPN Proxy One Pro is a service operated by the Taiwanese-Japanese company Trend Micro Incorporated. Its main product is an antivirus application, and the VPN is only an add-on. This is unfortunately very noticeable in the quality of the product.
One of the few strengths of VPN Proxy One Pro is the simple appearance of the app, which is due to the very narrow feature set. Besides more advanced features like multi-hop connections or split tunneling, the very basic security feature of a kill switch is missing. The selection of available locations is also very weak, as VPN Proxy One Pro offers only 17.
The service collects significantly more personal information about users than one would expect from an application used to protect user privacy.
A relative strength of VPN Proxy One Pro is its connection speed. In repeated tests, we measured an average download speed of 156 Mb/s and an upload speed of 104 Mb/s. The high speed can be used for torrenting, for example, but we have had only partial success in unblocking streaming services.
An advantage of VPN Proxy One Pro is the customer support available around the clock, even in English by phone. The credit for this goes to the background of a large multinational company.
From an overall perspective, we consider VPN Proxy One Pro with a rating of 4.8/10 to be an insufficient service that doesn’t have much to offer customers. It can hide the user’s identity when using the Internet, but it collects too much data about the user at the same time.

VPN Proxy One Pro can only be used on 1 device at the same time, which is very uncommon among paid services. Extending protection to additional devices is available for an additional fee. VPN Proxy One Pro was worth a few points in our evaluation since, for example, Surfshark can be used on 999 devices simultaneously with one subscription.
The VPN Proxy One Pro app is only available on Windows and macOS desktop platforms and on Android and iOS mobile devices.
This completely misses support for TVs, smart NAS storage, alternative Linux or running on a router. VPN Proxy One Pro is also not suitable for heavy users in terms of supported platforms.
VPN Proxy One Pro does not offer extensions to any web browser.
VPN Proxy One Pro App: User-friendliness, whitelist, server selection…
- App Languages: 🇺🇸 English +4 more🇨🇳 Chinese 🇹🇷 Turkish 🇦🇪 Arabic 🇮🇱 Hebrew
- Whitelisting: NoWhitelisting is supported by 52 % of reviewed VPNs
VPN Proxy One Pro doesn’t offer too many features and settings, so it’s easy to use. In our testing, we particularly liked the mobile version. The ability to switch between light and dark mode would have been beneficial for a better user experience.
The apps are available in 5 languages.
On the home screen of the VPN Proxy One Pro app, there is a button to connect to the VPN. From the same screen, you can access a list of 17 available locations. Countries cannot be filtered or sorted in any way. Site selection is done with a simple click, and a specific server cannot be selected.
Missing from the available features is a whitelist, which is used to select apps and websites for which the VPN will not be used. VPN Proxy One Pro, at least under the name VPN Always On, offers a similar feature for selecting unsafe Wi-Fi networks that the VPN will automatically connect to.
In the app’s settings for VPN Proxy One Pro, you can manually select a protocol, enable notifications for Wi-Fi security and end of subscription, or fill out a service satisfaction survey. You can also click through to the support center.
VPN Proxy One Pro Connection Speed: Upload, Download & Latency
- Traffic limit: Unlimited
VPN Proxy One Pro does not limit the user in the amount of data transferred; this is standard for paid VPNs.
When testing VPN Proxy One Pro, we repeatedly measured the connection speed and achieved an average download value of 156 Mb/s. Compared to other reviewed VPNs, this is an above-average result. Such speeds are suitable for 4K video playback as well as for downloading bulky files.
The average upload of 104 Mb/s again exceeds most of the VPNs tested.
The server response speed is significant, for example, for gamers. We measured VPN Proxy One Pro at a sufficient value for gaming (36 ms). The best VPNs in our ranking have even better server response; for example, NordVPN achieved 11 ms, and CyberGhost VPN had an average of 11 ms.
VPN Proxy One Pro Server Locations
- Number of servers: 21The average number of servers for the reviewed VPNs is 1670.
- Number of countries: 17The average number of countries available for the reviewed VPNs is 41.
Europe 🇫🇷 France 🇮🇹 Italy 🇩🇪 Germany 🇳🇱 Netherlands 🇬🇧 United Kingdom 🇨🇭 Switzerland North America 🇨🇦 Canada 🇺🇸 USA South America Asia 🇮🇱 Israel 🇯🇵 Japan 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia 🇸🇬 Singapore 🇦🇪 United Arab Emirates 🇹🇼 Taiwan Africa 🇿🇦 South Africa Oceania 🇦🇺 Australia 🇳🇿 New Zealand
VPN Proxy One Pro does not publicly list the number of servers. However, there are at least 21, as there are just 17 different countries available to users. Compared to competing VPNs, the offering is weak. For example, PureVPN operates servers in PureVPN countries around the world.
A low number of servers combined with a large number of users can cause congestion and reduced transfer speeds. During testing of VPN Proxy One Pro, we did not experience any such difficulties.
Most VPN Proxy One Pro servers are located in Europe and Asia, with North America, Oceania, and Africa also represented. Servers are available in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. There are also some relatively unique locations such as Saudi Arabia and Taiwan. Servers in Russia, China, Turkey, and other countries with government censorship are not offered by VPN Proxy One Pro.
It does not have servers dedicated exclusively to torrenting, streaming video, or other types of traffic. Both supported security protocols are available on all servers.
VPN Proxy One Pro Security Features: DNS Leak Protection, Kill Switch…
- DNS leak protection : YesDNS leak protection is offered by 92% of the reviewed VPNs.
- Kill Switch: NoKill Switch is supported by 85% of the reviewed VPNs.
- Multi-Hop: NoMulti-Hop connection is offered by 20 % of the VPNs reviewed.
- Tor: NoTor support is offered by 18 % of the reviewed VPNs.
Although VPN Proxy One Pro does not offer advanced protection, we did not detect any DNS leaks or exposure of our real IP address during testing.
A major shortcoming of VPN Proxy One Pro, which had a significant impact on the overall evaluation, is the lack of a kill switch. This important security feature disconnects the device from the Internet when the connection to the VPN server is lost. This prevents the user’s real IP address, location, or compromised data from being revealed.
The only protective feature of VPN Proxy One Pro is the automatic activation of the VPN when a security risk is detected on the Wi-Fi network to which the device is connected. You can also set up a notification for suspicious activity on the network being used.
Given the few available features, it is not surprising that VPN Proxy One Pro lacks multi-hop connectivity (also known as Double VPN). Its principle is to connect devices through two different VPN servers simultaneously, which increases security and privacy levels. Multi-hop is supported by providers such as NordVPN and Proton VPN Plus.
VPN Proxy One Pro supports OpenVPN and Wireguard protocols. Both are commonly used and considered secure. Wireguard, in particular, is becoming increasingly popular, offering lean code and high speed. You can either choose the protocol manually or leave the choice to the application.
The transmitted data is secured with 256-bit AES encryption. This is considered secure, as it is very difficult to break.
For better security of the user account, two-factor authentication can be activated on the VPN Proxy One Pro website. When logging in, you will then need to enter a code from an email, SMS message, or mobile app in addition to your password.
VPN Proxy One Pro & Streaming: Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime…
- Amazon Prime: YesAmazon Prime streaming is supported by 53 % of reviewed VPNs
- Disney+: NoDisney+ streaming is supported by 55 % of reviewed VPNs
- HBO: NoHBO streaming is supported by 58 % of reviewed VPNs
- Hulu: NoHulu streaming is supported by 51 % of reviewed VPNs
- Netflix: NoNetflix streaming is supported by 65 % of reviewed VPNs
- YouTube: YesYouTube streaming is supported by 96 % of reviewed VPNs
VPN Proxy One Pro is not a good choice for unblocking foreign streaming platforms.
In our testing, we were only able to unblock YouTube and Amazon Prime Video streams without any problems. We had mixed results with Netflix, as we were able to unblock Japanese content, but no further success with American content. We did not unblock streams from Disney Plus, HBO Max, or Hulu on any of the platforms.
VPN Proxy One Pro does not operate any servers specifically dedicated to streaming video. Our measured download speed of 156 Mb/s is sufficient to play 4K video.
Features of VPN Proxy One Pro: AdBlock, Static IP…
- Blocks Ads: YesAd blocking is offered by 43 % of the VPNs reviewed.
- Blocks Malware: YesMalware blocking is offered by 34 % of the VPNs reviewed.
- Blocks Trackers: YesTrackers blocking is offered by 36 % of the VPNs reviewed.
VPN Proxy One Pro supports ad blocking and includes protection against malware and trackers. This feature is only available on US servers, although the VPN provider has long promised to expand it to other locations.
VPN Proxy One Pro does not offer data leak monitoring on the dark web at all. The app can only automatically start a VPN when connected to unsecured Wi-Fi, evaluate suspicious traffic on the network, and display notifications.
VPN Proxy One Pro does not offer static or dedicated IP addresses even for an additional fee. Some services offer a camouflage mode or so-called obfuscation, which disguises the VPN as a regular Internet connection. You won’t find this feature with VPN Proxy One Pro either.
In addition to VPNs, Trend Micro offers other paid services divided into several categories. Services can be purchased individually or as a lower-priced package on the VPN Proxy One Pro website.
- Security: Antivirus applications for various operating systems
- Identity: Paid Dark web monitoring, password manager, identity theft assistance, identity theft fraud insurance
- Cleaner One Pro: Optimize your device performance
Additionally, you can download various free extensions for your smartphone or computer that can, for example, block unwanted SMS and calls or activate parental controls.
VPN Proxy One Pro‘s CPU usage and App Performance
The desktop application VPN Proxy One Pro is not demanding, using only 30 MB of available RAM when actively connected. On the test MacBook Air, it consumed about 3% of the battery and CPU. On the hard drive, VPN Proxy One Pro occupied only 35 MB of space.
So, in general, there’s no need to worry about the app slowing down the device. After the connection is closed and the application is terminated, it will still run in the background and use system resources. If you want to maximize your computer’s performance, you need to turn it off completely.
VPN Proxy One Pro Torrenting Servers
- Torrenting servers: YesTorrenting support is offered by 88 % of the reviewed VPNs.
VPN Proxy One Pro supports torrenting on all servers, although none of them are specifically optimized for this type of traffic.
The download (156 Mb/s) and upload (104 Mb/s) speeds measured during testing are sufficient for torrent sharing.
We tested the VPN with uTorrent and BitTorrent clients, and in both cases, it reliably hid our real IP address from other users.
What is the country of origin of VPN Proxy One Pro?
- VPN Provider: Trend Micro Inc.
- Country of origin: 🇯🇵 Japan
The operator of VPN Proxy One Pro is Trend Micro Inc., registered in Tokyo, Japan. It was founded in October 1988 in Los Angeles, and moved to Japan in 1992. The research and development part of the company is based in Taipei, Taiwan.
Trend Micro Incorporated’s core business is the development of cybersecurity software for corporate customers and individuals.
Japan is not a formal member of the 5/9/14 Eyes Countries alliance, although the local government has confirmed that it cooperates with the countries involved. Members of the group share information among themselves about users who may pose a security threat.
VPN Proxy One Pro and Privacy: Logging Policy, Security Issues…
- No-Logs Policy: NoThe No-Logs Policy is followed by 78% of reviewed VPNs.
Trend Micro Inc. does not explicitly state anywhere on its website that VPN Proxy One Pro is a “no-logs” service. The only information displayed is that no logs are stored regarding the user’s Internet behavior or the sites visited.
The provider VPN Proxy One Pro collects information about users including their name, email address, device used, operating system, and payment details. It is stored for the time necessary to provide the service.
On the negative side, according to the terms and conditions, the collected data may be shared with third parties for the purpose of providing targeted marketing offers. Trend Micro Inc. may also pass on personal data for the purpose of national security or in the event of a legal challenge.
Directly from the VPN Proxy One Pro application, error messages and device information are sent anonymously to the creators for service optimization purposes. This behavior can be disabled in the settings.
VPN Proxy One Pro is not audited, and given the above, independent verification could contribute to a more trustworthy service. In 2019, the operator VPN Proxy One Pro was hit by an incident in which an employee sold the personal data of approximately 70,000 customers to a third party. Among the data sold were phone numbers, and some customers subsequently fell victim to unsolicited advertising calls.
If you want to make absolutely sure that your personal information stays safe, we recommend giving preference to providers such as ExpressVPN. Its data handling practices have been audited by independent agencies who have confirmed the security of their practices.
VPN Proxy One Pro Support: Chat, e-mail…
VPN Proxy One Pro is managed by a large multinational company, offering the possibility to contact customer support in various ways.
The fastest method is live chat, available 24/7 on the VPN Proxy One Pro website. A contact form can also be submitted on the same site, and we received a response to a test query within 48 hours.
Phone support is also provided, but the staff on the line speak only English, and local numbers are available only in certain countries.
Users can also benefit from a fairly extensive knowledge base and discussion forum. Support is not directly available in the app, although there is a button that may give that impression. Clicking on it merely redirects to the service’s website.
